Lawsuit Alleges Douglas Emmett Systematically Refused to Pay Wages Pinned Post!

On May 10, 2018, Anthony W. Ford filed a class action lawsuit against Douglas Emmett Management, LLC (Douglas Emmett). In the lawsuit, it is alleged that Douglas Emmett systematically refused to pay wages for overtime work, failed to provide legally mandated meal and break periods, and failed to reimburse employee expenses.

Class Action Suit Alleges Pattern of Unpaid Overtime, Other Labor Violations at Douglas Emmett Pinned Post!

In July 2011, Antoinette Lindsay filed suit against Douglas Emmett Inc. In her lawsuit, Lindsay alleged that Douglas Emmett had a pattern of unlawful wage and hour violations against its employees. Following the Lindsay suit, one-time Douglas Emmett employees Manny Vinluan, Jeremy Wiss, Tomasa Rodriguez and J. Antonio Gonzalez filed similar cases in LA County court. Many of the cases were eventually rolled up into a class action lawsuit, which was eventually settled for a total of $400,000 and distributed among Douglas Emmett workers.

New Class Action Suit against Douglas Emmett Mirrors Previous Allegations of Labor Violations

In 2014, Douglas Emmett, Inc. was forced to settle a large-scale class action lawsuit for over $400,000. Complaints filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court allege that the company systematically underpaid its employees and threatened retaliation against those who spoke out. Despite these issues supposedly being settled, a recent complaint filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court alleges that Douglas Emmett Management, LLC is still practicing many of the same illegal policies and practices.

Los Angeles, CA: The research website, DE-Tenants.org, a project of Operating Engineers, Local 501, today released data and primary records on over 500 companies from over 40 international jurisdictions linked to Qatar’s ruling Al Thani family and the nation’s sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA). An accompanying data table for the records details assets and holdings for many of the entities.
